Valet Trash Rules
Doorstep Collection Guidelines for Fresh Environmental Services
Your property’s posted collection days, hours, container rules, and weight limits take priority over these general guidelines.
Property Rules Come First
Fresh Environmental Services provides valet trash collection according to the schedule and service requirements established for your community. Always follow the instructions provided by your property.
Collection Guidelines
How Valet Trash Works
Follow these simple steps to make sure your trash is collected safely and on time.
Collection Schedule
- Place trash outside only during your community’s approved collection window.
- Do not place trash out too early.
- Trash placed outside after the collection team has passed may not be collected.
- Bring your empty container back inside after collection.
- Check with property management when you are unsure of your pickup days or times.
Bag Requirements
- Place all trash inside a securely tied bag.
- Do not leave loose trash outside your door.
- Check bags for holes or leaks.
- Double-bag wet, messy, or sharp household waste.
- Do not overfill bags. Open, leaking, or unsafe bags may be left behind.
Weight Limits
- Follow the weight limit established by your property.
- As a general guideline, residents should be able to lift and place each bag into the approved container without dragging it.
- Divide heavy material into more than one bag.
Door Placement
- Place tied bags inside the approved valet container when one is required.
- Position the container directly outside your door.
- Keep stairs, sidewalks, hallways, and emergency exits clear.
- Do not stack bags around a full container.
- Make sure the collection team has a safe path to your door.
Door Placement
- Empty and flatten all boxes.
- Remove food, foam, plastic wrap, and packing materials.
- Break large boxes into manageable pieces.
- Follow your property’s instructions for cardboard placement.
- Loose or oversized cardboard may not be collected during regular valet service.
Pet Waste
- Place pet waste inside a small, securely tied bag.
- Put that bag inside the regular household trash bag.
- Double-bag pet waste or litter when necessary to prevent leaks and odors.
- Do not leave loose pet waste outside your door.
- Property-specific pet-waste rules may apply.

Do not place these items outside for standard doorstep collection.

- Severe storms
- Unsafe temperatures
- Power outages

Check property notices, resident communications, or contact property management for schedule updates.
Holidays and Severe Weather
Common reasons include:
- Trash was placed outside too early or too late

- Loose waste was present
- A bulk or prohibited item was included
- The collection team had already completed the route
- The bag was open or leaking
- Trash was not inside the approved container
- Cardboard was not prepared correctly
- A pet or obstruction prevented safe access
